Troubling Trends: Suicide Trends and Solutions

Monday, March 23 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The suicide rate increased a troubling 33% from 1999 through 2017 with suicide continuing to be the second leading cause of death for 10-24 years old. It is estimated that for every death by suicide, there are 25 suicide attempts made across our county with more than 1.4 million suicide attempts in 2017. Join NAMI Central Texas and Dr. Amanda Barczyk, Associate Director of Research for the Dell Children’s Trauma and Injury Research Center, to learn about trends in youth suicide attempts, signs a person may be at risk of suicide and things you can do to help.

Mind Matters, presented by Ascension Seton, brings mental health experts and advocates together to share information, tools and experience with the goal of advancing our community’s understanding of mental illness and increasing awareness of the resources available.

Mind Matters is free and open to the public. Free parking available.
