Mind Matters: Demystifying Mental Health Legal Planning

Join NAMI Central Texas at Mind Matters as we learn from legal experts on these challenging, yet important topics. Participants will walk away armed with great information for addressing these challenging issues faced by many families
Mind Matters, presented by Ascension Seton, brings mental health experts and advocates together to share information, tools and experience with the goal of advancing our community’s understanding of mental illness and increasing awareness of the resources available.

Cohen Legal Services
Rose Cohen is a native of Austin, Texas. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1998. She attended law school in Boulder, Colorado and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder School of Law in 2001. Ms. Cohen received her license to practice law in Texas in 2001 and in Colorado in 2002. She practiced law in Colorado until 2005, when she returned to Austin. Since 2005 she has been practicing law in Austin. Her practice includes preparing Wills and Powers of Attorney, advising families on how to use Powers of Attorney to care for family members in need of help, Guardianship law and Probate law. Ms. Cohen speaks Spanish and enjoys providing legal services to the Spanish speaking community. She serves as an Attorney ad Litem in both Travis County and Williamson County in Guardianship cases and in Heirship cases.
Marilyn G. Miller Law
Marilyn G. Miller is a solo practitioner whose primary office is located in Dripping Springs, Texas. She received her JD from the University of Kansas in 1981 and an LLM in Taxation from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1983. Ms. Miller has extensive experience and training in the areas of elder law by helping with Medicaid planning and other asset protection and preservation strategies, estate planning, life contingency planning as well as probate and guardianship. Ms. Miller has been certified as a Certified Elder Law Attorney since 1996. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and is a founding member of the Texas Chapter of NAELA. Currently she serves as President-elect of the National Elder Law Foundation.
