Whether it's navigating a loved one's mental health challenges or dealing with the impact of a global pandemic, strong relationships require good communication and conflict management skills. Join NAMI Central Texas and Kathryn Gates, of Gates Therapy, as we learn about communicating with our loved ones and addressing conflict before it becomes a problem.
Mind Matters at Home, presented by Ascension Seton, brings mental health experts and advocates straight into your home to share valuable information and tools for deepening our community’s understanding and managing of mental health during the challenging situation caused by the coronavirus.
Kathryn Gates, Gates Therapy
Kathryn Gates, LMFT specializes in supporting the loved ones of those who struggle with mental health. Working from a Systems perspective, Kathryn adjusts the family system surrounding the “identified” mental health patient so that recovery for that person is sustainable. The support given to family members during recovery facilitates serenity and empowerment, even in the midst of confusing or distressing mental health symptoms.
Kathryn sees clients online and for those who are local, in-office in downtown Austin. Using movement modalities to heal clients’ relationships with themselves, Kathryn provides one-on-one and group sessions at Autonomy Movement in North Austin.
Kathryn is licensed in Texas as a Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor and is nationally certified by the American Council on Exercise.
She is the author of Do NOT See a Therapist Until You’ve Done These 5 Things.
